In solidarity with the many suicide prevention campaigns around the world, we’re releasing a unique alphabet book about depression and suicide. This is a tool to spark communication.
Suicide awareness materials tend to use statistics, heavy-looking graphics, and cut-and-paste Top Ten Suicide Myths lists.
The Invisible D dispels myths by getting users to read between the lines and connect emotionally to the words and images. We need to talk, and this book gets people talking.
The project: a picture per day, and then a book
In USA, September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and on Monday, September 10, 2018 it’s World Suicide Prevention Day. In Australia, R U OKDay? 2018 is Thursday, September 13. We posted 26 images (A–Z) over September 2018 and pushed them out through our social media accounts (as well as here on this page). Now we’re collecting the alphabet and packaging it into a book that can be used in a variety of teaching environments.
Educators, mental health professionals, and everyone else who needs to talk about suicide prevention and depression will find a dozen stories in each page of this book, suitable for all ages.
